New Game of Thrones collection from Urban Decay ⚔️🛡⚔️

Happy Friday!

GOT fans get ready. On April 14th, Urban Decay is releasing their new collection in collaboration with Game of Thrones, and honestly, it looks pretty great.

The first thing I noticed from this collection is the eyeshadow palette.

So this packaging…… 🤨

If you despise bulky packaging…. this isn’t for you. It is a huge box with a pop up throne. However, if you think this is cool, and understand that it’s more of a collector’s item then 👍🏾. I usually hate bully packaging, but I think this is cool. (I don’t even watch the show btw.)

The UD x GOT collection also includes new makeup brushes, a highlighter palette, new Vice lipsticks, and some new 24/7 eyeliners. What’s catching your eye?

New blush trios from Alamar Cosmetics 😻😻😻

Alamar Cosmetics has launched some new blush palettes and 😯

First of all, I love that they released three versions. A lot of brand only do two variations leaving either the lightest and the darkest shades without options, or leaving folks in the middle with options that are either two bright or not bright enough.

Second, can we just look at those colors. How absolutely gorgeous! The middle palette would be perfect for me, and I could really see myself wearing those colors year-round. At $22 per palette, I really think it’s a great buy.

That being said, I don’t think I’ll be picking one up right now. 😓 I’m in the middle of a massive declutter of my beauty products. So it wouldn’t make sense to add anything new.

(Note- I will be posting about the declutter soon. I had to send my MacBook into Apple for some repairs. So that’s why I haven’t been posting anything else.)

What do you guys think about these blush trios from Alamar Cosmetics? Yay or nay? Is blush something you have a lot of in your collection?

Bh Cosmetics x It’s My Raye Raye Round 2

Bh Cosmetics and It’s My Raye Raye (Raye Boyce) are teaming up again to do another eyeshadow palette. Unlike the first palette, which was mostly all neutrals and also included face products, this palette is only for the eyes and is quite colorful.

I really enjoyed the first collaboration. I liked it so much that I gave it as a gift to someone just starting out in makeup because I felt it was the perfect palette for all occasions. The quality was also phenomenal.

I say all that to say that I think this palette will be of equally high quality. I like that the first row is everyday wearable mid-tone shades with the bottom two rows being matte and shimmer versions of bright colors.

If you are looking for a bright palette, I would highly recommend trying this. It’s inexpensive and, if history is an indicator, the quality will be really good. That being said, I’m going to pass on this for myself. I am not really into bright colors these days, so I don’t see myself using this often.

What are you thoughts? Are these colors perfect for the summer? Did you try the first collaboration?

New mini palette for Spring from Wander Beauty

New at Sephora for spring is a cute six pan palette from Wander Beauty.

Available now for $25, I think this is a really cute companion mini, perfect for this time of year. The only thing it’s missing is a mid-toned shade for the crease, and it’d be a really great everyday palette.

Personally, I will be skipping this one because I already have all of these colors in my collection, both as a part of other palettes and as single shadows. Since I would still want to bring in other shades, grabbing this palette wouldn’t be beneficial to me.

What your your thoughts on this one? An essential for spring, or are the shades too common?

New from Stila, eyeshadow made with….glass?!? 😳

Stila has recently released two new eyeshadow palettes in their website- After Hours and Happy Hour.

I thought both were really pretty, but was especially drawn to the warm-toned After Hours palette. It just seemed like something I could get a lot of use from.

That was until I read the ingredients list. Several shades in both palettes contained an alarming ingredient- glass.

I have never seen glass or glass beads listed as an ingredient. I don’t know what the purpose is, or how small the beads are, safety, etc.. However, I know, for sure, that I can do without an eyeshadow palette with glass in it.

What are your thoughts on glass beads in eyeshadow? Have you seen such an ingredient before? Let’s chat!

Beach-friendly travel set from Too Faced

New from Too Faced, and available now is a super cute travel set perfect for the summer. The set comes with the waterproof Better Tham Sex mascara and a bronzer.

I think this is a perfect option to throw in your makeup bag, whether it’s for everyday or travel. If you’re in a rush or for a more natural look, bronzer is a perfect multi-use product. You can dust it on the perimeter of your face over a CC or BB cream and then sweep it across the lids for a quick wash of color. Add a little mascara, and it’s a look.

What are you thoughts on this one? I currently am trying to pare down my collection, but is this something that you guys would go for?

Ciate London x Jessica Rabbit

Ciate London recently released a collection “in collaboration with” Jessica Rabbit.

I have to admit, I saw the announcements for this release a while ago, but it took me a while to settle my thoughts on it.

Here’s where I landed: I’m not interested. I do think the concept is cool. I feel like the theme is a unique one that my generation could appreciate, but the collection itself, especially the eyeshadow palette just isn’t something I need in my collection.

The colors are okay, but nothing different than I’ve seen before. The biggest detractor for me, though, was that Ciate London keeps releasing eyeshadow palettes, and everyone keeps ignoring them or saying that the quality isn’t good.

What do you guys think? Do you like Ciate London? Am I being to hard on them? Let’s chat!

Spray on setting powder?!

Available now from Stila is their new spray on setting powder

I’ve actually seen this product in person and I have to say, it is really interesting. The texture is ultra-finely milled to the point that it feels smooth and silky.

The reason I passed on this one is because it just seems like it would be too messy. It reminded me of when I had the Dior spray on foundation. I loved the concept, but in practice it just didn’t work for me.

What do you guys think? Would you give a spray on powder a try? Let’s chat!

New Skin-loving primers from First Aid Beauty

First Aid Beauty, know for their great skincare, is releasing two new primers.

One, the Ultra Repair Hyaluronic Hydrating primer, is supposed to be hydrating and healing with ingredients like hyaluronic acid (obviously) and colloidal oatmeal.

The other primer is supposed to be pore-filling and mattifying, using ingredients like silica and plant based extracts to control oil and keep skin looking matte and smooth.

First Aid Beauty is a brand I definitely want to try. As I am moving into a new phase in life, I am trying to make my beauty collection more minimal and more clean. FAB prises itself on clean beauty products. So I do think that I will be picking up one of these primers.

If I had to choose right now, it would be the hyaluronic acid option, but FAB also already has their Coconut Skin Smoothie Moisturizing Primer that could be a great option for the warmer months.

What do you guys think? Have you tried anything from First Aid Beauty? Do you like primers that double as skincare?

New summer palette from Tarte

Tarte has recently released their limited edition Rainforest of the Sea High Tides and Good Vibes eyeshadow palette for Spring/Summer 2019.

Looking at the palette, I think it’s a gorgeous color story for the warmer months. I like that the top left quad is warmer, everyday colors, and the rest of the palette is bright and fun. It looks really versatile.

That being said, I don’t think it’s something that has a place in my collection. Looking at the swatches, the center four shades are just too chunky. While I do like glitter shadows, I prefer them in more wearable colors.

What do you guys think about it? Are you loving the blues and pinks together for summer?

Special weekend edition

Welcome to the weekend edition. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to post on Thursday. So I wanted to make it up with a round up of a couple new releases that I didn’t get a chance to chat about.

Cover Fx Booster Drops

CoverFx recently released a set of four different booster drops to mix into your makeup or wear alone, each with its own skincare benefits. The four options are:

  • Mattifying: to transform your liquid products to help keep oily skin matte
SPF: contains SPF 30 and can be worn under or over makeup
Brightening: gently reduces discoloration and unevenness in skin tone
Super drops: plant-based extracts nourish the skin, adding a radiant glow

Each booster is $48.

Somehow, all of these drops are appealing to me, but realistically, I won’t be picking any of them up. One thing to keep in mind with anything you mix into your foundations, is that it can affect the performance of the foundation since it’s changing its consistency. At this time, that’s just not something I want to pay $50 to expertement with.

Tarte Foundcealer

After the shameful Shape tape foundation debacle, Tarte pulled the foundation and tried relaunching the Face Tape Foundation months later. Unimpressed, a lot of people ignored the relaunch.

Soon after, Tarte announced the release of a new foundation, the Foundcealer (foundation and concealer) with a shade range that was actually acceptable.

Honestly, there are no big claims being made, and I’m okay with that. It’s said to be a vegan skincare-makeup hybrid for which you can customize the coverage level, and has a natural radiant finish. I use a couple of Tarte’s skincare products already, their Maracuja oil being a staple in my routine. So, I’m curious to see how this performs. I’d try it, definitely with a sample before I purchase it though.

What new releases have caught your attention recently? Let’s chat!

Brand new highlighter from Becca ✨✨

Sorry for the missed post yesterday. As a result, I’ll be doing a weekend edition to make up for it.

In beauty news…

Becca is releasing their new Pearl Glow highlighter soon, and it looks gorgeous 😍

I love the pink/champagne color. It’s definitely my ideal shade as opposed to gold-based highlighters 🙅🏾‍♀️. Looking at the new packaging and design on the highlighter itself, I’m wondering if it’ll be a new formula or if it will be a part of a larger spring/summer themed collection.

That being said, I’m going to pass on this one. As much as I love Becca highlighters, $38 (the usual price for a full-size) is a lot and I’m not sure that I can justify that when I already have so many highlighters in my collection. Plus, I’ve been more into cream products lately. So I’ll don’t think purchasing this one would make sense for me.

What are your thoughts? What’s your favorite highlighter?

e.l.f. The New Classics || Swatch Stories #2

Color story #2

As a true makeup junkie, it is very easy to neglect makeup that I already own in favor of what’s new. This year, to get more use from my existing collection, I have decided to start a new series: Swatch Stories. Using one palette per month, I will do weekly posts of a different color combination.

I chose the e.l.f. The New Classics palette because since getting it in my e.l.f. haul, it has truly become a new favorite of mine. To me it is like the perfect blend of the ABH Soft Glam and Sultry palettes. It has everything you need for day and night, and performs well.

From Top to Bottom: Blanc, Cosmo, Charmer, Earth

Why does Natasha Denona keep doing this to me?!

I keep saying I’m not buying another palette from this brand, and I keep getting sucked back in. Help me!!!!

Natasha Denona is releasing the perfect everyday neutrals palette and I am feeling like I reallllly want to buy it.

Honestly, this is my perfect go to palette. It has the perfect three shimmers and tons of mattes of differing tones. It will be the usual $129 that all 15-pan ND palettes cost, and will be a permanent part of her line up starting 3/15 when it drops online and in-store at Sephora.

Someone convince me not to put this on my purchase list. Please and thank you.

A refreshing new way to hydrate the skin and reapply SPF.

Physicians Formula has released exactly the product I’ve been waiting for: their new refreshing face mist with SPF.

This new RefreshMist has cucumber and bamboo to hydrate and nourish your face, while the SPF of 20 makes it easy to reapply sun protection without ruining your makeup.

I am all the way here for this and am definitely picking this up. All of the sunscreen sprays I’ve tried in the past have been chalky aerosols so I am really hoping that this one is a winner. It’s definitely be something that I kept in my bag year round, but especially in the warmer months when I’m outdoors more.

ColourPop x Disney Part 2

ColourPop is bringing us a round two collaboration with Disney; this time they’re focusing on the villains.

I am excited about this palette. I really like Disney and just seeing all of the characters on the sneak peep made me feel nostalgic. As much as I really like the ColourPop Pressed shadow formula, I honestly plan on buying this for the theme.

Glossier. has released a new sister brand.

Glossier. has finally released its new sister brand: Glossier Play.

While Glossier. is known for is minimal, no makeup makeup, the new Play brand is all about having fun. Included in the brand launch are six new products:

  • Colorslide eyeliner
  • Vinylic lip (high shine lacquer)
  • Glitter gelée
  • Niteshine (highlighter concentrate)
  • A silicone tipped applicator to use with the gelée
  • Blade (a German engineered sharpener)

All of the products (except the brush and sharpener) come in multiple colors and each costs no more than $20. If you wanted to try one of everything, the brand has a set called The Playground that includes all of the products, and even allows you to pick which shade of each you want. The entire set is only $60.

I don’t think $60 is a bad price to try the entire range. I am not sure if I’ll grab it though. While I am super interested in the brand, there are so many cool releases coming out, I’m not sure if this will make the cut.

What do you guys think about this new line from Glossier.?

Mini Sephora Haul || YouTube Made Me Buy It

Face it, the influencers have influence.

There’s a reason big YouTube stars can make tens of thousands of dollars for a single sponsored video– it’s because they are effective at marketing products. Here are some products that I picked up on my last Sephora run because an influencer (or several) convinced me that I needed it.

fullsizeoutput_2f89

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation (shade 4.0)|| Influenced by Jasmine Rose

fullsizeoutput_2f8a

After I watched her rave about how flawless and natural-looking this foundation was on combo/oily skin, even without primer, I knew I had to try it. I grabbed this one in the shade 4.0.

1st Impressions | I love this foundation. In just a few uses, it has shot to the top of my list of, not just higher end foundations, but foundations in general. The shade match is spot on, and it looks completely natural on the skin.

fullsizeoutput_2f92
Look how hydrated and plump the skin on the back of my hand looks; that is all the work of the foundation, no primer.

Smashbox Primer Oil | | Influenced by Jessica Braun

fullsizeoutput_2f8c

In the past year, I have really learned how vital oils are for healthy, dewy looking skin. Once I started using them, my combo-oily skin STOPPED producing as much oil because it wasn’t trying to overcompensate for the dryness. Jessica Braun was really big push for me to try this primer oil. Although she has dry skin, I could still see the benefit of the oil for me. In my case, I just use this oil in place of my regular facial oil.

1st Impressions | Wow. If I was impressed by the Tarte Maracuja Oil, I am doubly impressed by the Smashbox Primer Oil. It is ultra-lightweight and skins into the skin immediately. It instantly gives my skin a healthy, hydrated glow and even blurs any fine lines and pores. I am utterly and completely blown away. It definitely transforms my matte foundation into natural-looking dreams, and even made me like my most hated foundation ever- Cover FX Power Play.

fullsizeoutput_2f95
I placed the primer oil on one side of my hand. Inside the blue circle you can really see the amazing blurring properties of the primer- no editing or anything!

Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color || Influenced by Jamie Paige

fullsizeoutput_2f8e

I’ve been really heavy on a cream product kick these days thanks to multiple YTers including (especially Jessica Braun and Kelly Gooch). I already have a cream blush – the Lip + Cheek color from Milk Makeup- but I feel like it’s a bit too greasy. So, I was thinking about grabbing a new one anyway. I saw Jamie Paige use this product the day before I went to Sephora, and it looked so effortless and amazing that I had to try it. She swears by Nudestix in general, but the way that the blush just blended out to look like a truly natural flush…..

1st Impressions | Love. Love love love. Nudestix really does make the ultimate on-the-go products. The blush (which can also be used on the lips and eyes) comes in a cute little stick- my favorite for cream products- and also has a brush built-in. The brush really is soft and the perfect tool for gently (but quickly) blending the product out to look like your cheeks are just flushed. I’m 100% obsessed. Plus, I love that all of the Nudestix tins come with a mirror in the lid.

fullsizeoutput_2f9a
This is in the shade In the Nude. I love neutral peachy blushes because they go with every look. On the bottom is a quick swatch, above it is a little bit blended out on my hand.

Kaja Beauty Bento Bouncy Shimmer Eyeshadow Trio || Influenced by Tati Westbrook

fullsizeoutput_2ff0

This is a brand that I’ve wanted to try for a while, it was even on my list of brands to purchase from in 2019. I think their products are super cute and definitely travel/gym bag friendly. So, all it took was Tati confirming the incredible quality of the shadows to be the extra push I needed to make the jump.

1st Impressions | This little trio is really nice. The first time I used it, I just patted the color on with my finger, and had one matte shadow blended into the crease. There was no fall out and the eyeshadow lasted ALL DAY. The second time I used it, there was some fallout, but I was using more of a sweeping motion. The color was still really great and lasted all day. Both times I just used my regular eyeshadow primer.

Last but not least…

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Unveil || Influenced By Alissa Ashley

fullsizeoutput_2f91

I have been hoping for a win with Fenty since the brand first launched. So far, I’ve tried multiple products, and haven’t liked any of them. 😩 As my last chance, I decided to go for a lip product. When Alissa Ashley applied a Stunna Lip Paint in one of her videos, it looked extremely soft and not the least bit dry for a matte liquid lip. That coupled with everyone raving about how long-lasting it was, I decided to give it a try. I’ve been looking for a great everyday liquid lipstick that was comfortable and long lasting.

1st Impressions | This now has a permanent place in my purse and I am planning to pick up more colors. While I it wore down a bit within the first hour or two of a beer fest, it was super easy to reapply standing up in a line, using my phone as a mirror. If I was only drinking water from a bottle, it lasted for hours, making it perfect for work, an interview or running errands. Plus, this lipstick was comfortable. The one thing I’ll caution is that you have to wipe some of the product off of the applicator. Otherwise you’ll end up with product all over your teeth. 😬

✨✨✨✨

Based on first impressions, I’m really happy with all of the products I purchased. Maybe these influencers really do know what they’re talking about…

What products were you guys influenced to by based on YouTube? Did you end up happy with them?

Morning Makeup Musings #83

A gorgeous new Spring collection from ColourPop is coming soon.

ColourPop is gearing up to release a full collection perfect for spring.

First of all, I love that ColourPop is choosing not to ignore spring like many other brands are doing. So far we’ve seen a lot of summer-themed releases. So it’s refreshing to see a brand not just shoot past the next three months.

Honestly, I like everything about this collection. The palette is pretty and everyday wearable, with gorgeous jelly shadows in perfectly complementary pastels. The lipsticks are really pretty, and the blushes are colorful and bright.

If I were to make any purchase from this, I’d probably pick up everything except for the blushes. Not because I don’t like them, but I’m just not interested in the Super Shock formula for a blush.

What do you guys think about this collection? Are you happy for a more toned down spring theme, or are the summer vibes helping you pull through the cold of these last weeks of winter? Let’s chat!

e.l.f. The New Classics || Swatch Stories #1

A new palette each month. New look inspo every week.

DSCN0647

For the first swatch story, I went with four colors that can take you from day to night within themselves. Below the swatches is one of the soft everyday looks that I did with these colors.

U0AXTHByTOCDlSqnbIYrew
Top to bottom: Glamour, Darling, Muse, Black Cherry
fullsizeoutput_2fea
For this look I blended Darling into the crease and along the lower lash line, fluffed Glamour all over the lid, softly blended Black Cherry on the outer third of the lid, blended the two lid colors using an ultra-light hand with Muse. Then to finish I smudged Muse along the top lash line and outer portion of the bottom lashes. (Not the most flattering shot, I know. I forgot to take the picture until the tail end of my day 😩)

Have you guys tried the newer e.l.f. palettes?

Persona Cosmetics is adding a new product to its lineup

Persona Cosmetics is releasing lipglosses!

I love a great lipgloss. It is the most effortless way to wear color on your lips. It goes on easily, even without a mirror, and is comfortable the entire time.

I think these glosses are a great move. The colors are gorgeous and all completely wearable. If I had to pick one it’d probably be Honey, but my preference would be to grab all three. Since Persona is on my list of brands to try this year, I will be putting these on my list.

What’s your favorite kind of lip product?

Morning Makeup Musing #81

Anastasia Beverly Hills is coming for the coins. ANOTHER release this week– that makes THREE.

Anastasia Beverly Hills did not come to play. They want all of the coins, yours and mine. As the third launch of the week, ABH introduced Dewy Set, a new dewy setting mist.

fullsizeoutput_2f7f

I am super curious to see the reviews on this once they come out. Up until this point, other than the Smashbox Primer water (and similar products), I have only used mattifying setting sprays. I am curious how this one works on combination skin. I have a feeling that it won’t provide enough benefits to replace the options I already know and trust, especially at the higher price point that ABH products always have.

What are your thoughts? What is your favorite setting spray, and do you think you’d be willing to give this one a try? Let’s chat!

Anastasia Beverly Hills, maker of the cult favorite Brow Wiz and Dipbrow, is releasing a new brow product.

Happy Monday!

Anastasia Beverly Hills is releasing now just the Riviera palette today, but also a new brow product- the Dipbrow Gel.

There will be 11 shades in all. All waterproof, and all able to be applied both with the included spoolie and with an angled brush.

While I do think ABH makes great brow products, I’ve come to the realization that I’m not a person who needs to spend a lot of money on brow products. There are so many drugstore and affordable options that work just as well. So, I’d rather spend my money elsewhere.

Are you guys going to try this out? What’s your must-have brow product?

Morphe has released a new bronze-themed eyeshadow palette and it’s kinda amazing.

Morphe’s new bronze-themed collection is overall gorgeous, but the item that caught my attention most is the Bronze Goals 35G eyeshadow palette.

This palette is gorgeous. It kinda has everything- cool tones, warms tones, neutrals. 😍😍😍

I had previously sworn off Morphe palettes because I didn’t think the quality was that great but, uh, I may have to give them one last chance for this one. I could really see this being my everyday, all the time palette.

BoxyCharm February 2019 Review

Quick product reviews and swatches

Hey guys!

In case you are unfamiliar with BoxyCharm, it is a monthly beauty box subscription. For about $26/mo ($21 plus tax), you get five full-sized beauty products delivered to your home every month.

The theme for this month’s box was After Glow. I like that they skipped the hearts and roses that a lot of brands go for in February; instead, this was a really fresh take on the month of love. Afterglow refers to the pinkish hue and golden light of the sky right after sunset–a really gorgeous, romantic time. However, as ties more directly into the whole Valentine’s Day theme, the phrase “basking in the afterglow” can also refer to the moments of satisfaction right after sex.

fullsizeoutput_2f5d

I think the contents of this box definitely fit the AfterGlow theme, in both contexts:

TOO FACED | Better Than Sex Mascara, $24

fullsizeoutput_2f6a

I haven’t opened it because I am trying to finish up the two mascaras that I’m currently using. But, I am looking forward to trying this mascara. People absolutely swear by it. A nice addition to the box and my collection.

PRETTY VULGAR | Shimmering Swan Highlighter in Sparkling Sass, $32

fullsizeoutput_2f61

I have loved every Pretty Vulgar product that I’ve tried. So, I was looking forward to trying this highlighter. In the pan, it looked like it may be a bit too gold for my preference, but on the skin the shade is a perfect champagne-like hue. The formula just melts into my cheek and does not have any glitter or emphasize any texture. This is exactly what I look for in a highlighter.

TOUCH IN SOL | No Poreblem Primer, $18

fullsizeoutput_2f63

This cute pink primer is a dupe for the YSL Touche Èclat Blur Primer that I’m trying to finish up in my project pan. It feels the same (maybe a tad bit more lightweight), wears the same and even smells exactly the same. The amazing part is that not only is this primer more than 50% less expensive than YSL (which is $52), but it’s also cruelty-free!

SOL DE JANEIRO | Coco Cabana Cream, $20

fullsizeoutput_2f65

I really cannot stand the smell of this body cream. It smells like a combination of artificial coconut and movie popcorn butter. As soon as I opened the container, I immediately closed it again. I didn’t even bother testing the feel, because I’m just going to give it away. It’s a no from me dog. Hard Pass.

NUDESTIX | Magnetic Luminous Eye Color in Copper Foil, $24

fullsizeoutput_2f67

NUDESTIX eyeshadow pencils do not work for me as lid colors. My eyelids are too oily so it always just becomes a creased, greasy mess a few short hours into the wear. However, I have found that the long-wear formula make these great for my lower lash line. This copper color isn’t unique to my collection, but I think it works beautifully with the box’s theme. If you don’t have oily lids, this makes for a quick eye look. You can just place it all over the lid and blend it out with your finger.

fullsizeoutput_2f6d

Overall, I think this month’s box was pretty good. My favorite items were the highlighter and mascara. Obviously I won’t be using the body cream, but I can definitely get use out of  the other two items as well. The total of successful products in this box comes to $98, not bad for a box that cost less than $30.

Next month is a BoxyLuxe month (for which I’m subscribed). I have seen some spoilers, but I’m super curious about what will actually be in the box that I receive. What was your favorite BoxyCharm item this month? Let’s chat!

Indie brand Coloured Raine is about to release a gorgeous new eyeshadow palette.

The new Safari Raine palette will be available on the Coloured Raine website next week on March 8th at 9am PST.

Coloured Raine is an indie brand I’ve had my eye on since the famed Queen of Hearts palette. Unfortunately, I haven’t tried them yet, but with this new release, I think this will be my entry point.

This palette is absolutely gorgeous. I love the mix of warm and cool tones– all of which look like colors that I would get a ton of use from. I can see myself reaching for this year round.

Have you guys tried Coloured Raine? What are your thoughts on this release?

The final story for The Warrior palette.

As a true makeup junkie, it is very easy to neglect makeup that I already own in favor of what’s new. This year, to get more use from my existing collection, I have decided to start a new series: Swatch Stories. Using one palette per month, I will do weekly posts of a different color combination.

This month’s palette is The Warrior by Juvia’s Place. I chose this palette because it is easy to underestimate the versatility of a neutral palette.

Here is the final set of swatches for this month:

HLU4+QZcRlyisN7xMcZwCA

Top to Bottom (L-R): Amina, Moremi, Benin, Mino

Depending where you place the dark brown shade, these colors can give you tons of looks, from a dark, bronzy smokey eye to a light, neutral look for everyday (with the brown as liner). fullsizeoutput_2e5efullsizeoutput_2db7

It Cosmetics has just released a new foundation in 48 shades with a 24-hr wear time.

It Cosmetics has just released their new Confidence in a Foundation!

This velvet matte foundation comes in an impressive 48-shade range and claims to be perfect for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. Additional claims include a 24-hour wear time. It is oil free and contains pretty great ingredients like hyaluronic acid, collagen and squalane to hydrate and plump skin all day.

I would definitely like to try this foundation. I love the It Cosmetics CC cream and Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder; so, I trust the quality. These days I am starting to really care what I’m putting on my skin because it gets absorbed into the body. That being said, I appreciate how they pack their products with good-for-skin ingredients.

Anastasia Beverly Hills is releasing a brand new, full-sized eyeshadow palette unlike anything we’ve seen from them.

We all asked, and Anastasia Beverly Hills is about to deliver. A brand new, full sized eyeshadow palette unlike anything on the market will be released on March 4th.

I do think I’ll be picking this one up when it is released next week.

Gorgeous new eyeshadow palette from an amazing WOC-owned UK brand.

OPV Beauty has just launched a new eyeshadow palette that has really caught my attention.

Looking at the palette, I am reminded of the UD Born to Run palette, but I like the lighter tones in this one and it feels like there are less redundant tones than there are in the Born to Run.

Honestly, before seeing this palette come across my timeline, I had never even heard of this brand. It is a UK-based brand that has almost half a million followers on IG. So it’s not new or some tiny indie brand.

After seeing this and checking out the website. I’m intrigued. For about $38USD, I think this palette could be a good place to start exploring the quality of OPV Beauty. The swatches look great, and the colors are interesting, but wearable.

WANDER BEAUTY | Wandress Dusk to Dawn Blush & Highlighter Palette Review

Product review and swatches of a travel-friendly face palette.

There is something to be said about the way a little bit of blush instantly adds life to your face. That’s why, no matter how quick or simple I want my look to be, I always throw on some blush. One of my favorite palettes to use for that is the Wander Beauty Wandress Dusk to Dawn palette.

fullsizeoutput_2f22

There are three reasons why I love this palette: the size of the overall palette, the shades of the products, and the finish on the skin.

The palette itself is pretty small; it’s just a bit larger than the palm of my hand. That coupled with the fact that it has a mirror makes it ideal for travel. Since Wander Beauty makes products with travel in mind, it makes sense.

Inside the palette are three shades: two blushes and one highlighter. Personally, I can wear all of the shades, but the highlighter is pretty gold. So, it may not look great on lighter skin tones. My favorite way to wear these blushes it to put the darker pink right on the apples of my cheeks and blending it out with the lighter peach shade, which I then dust over my nose for a naturally flushed look that works well with mostly any look. Since the palette includes a highlighter, it makes a great all-in-one face palette for when you’re traveling or on in a rush and don’t want to grab multiple products.

fullsizeoutput_2f24

The other thing I love about this palette is that all three of the products leave the skin with a soft glow. As I have mentioned a million times recently, I love a dewy base. By adding a blush and highlight with a soft sheen, as opposed to being glittery or metallic, it further makes my skin look radiant without being metallic or obviously highlighted. I also prefer this finish to matte blushes because the glow makes my skin look healthy and youthful, which is nice when the air is cold and dry.

fullsizeoutput_2f28

I highly recommend this palette to anyone who wants a small, travel-friendly blush and highlight palette. Yes, the rectangular pan sizes require a smaller blush brush, but I don’t think that it takes away from the palette in any real way. The products are long-lasting, blend well and are convenient to take on trips or to have in a gym bag.

If you’re interested in grabbing it, this palette is available on the Wander Beauty website. Other travel-friendly Wander Beauty products are available at Sephora and Nordstrom.

Yep. You read correctly.

It appears that the shopHush website may be going out of business. The entire website is on sale. Plus, you can stack their 50% code SPRING50 on top of the sale prices. If that wasn’t enough, there’s free shipping on orders over $25.

Note- shopHush is known for selling dupe palettes, but it also sells traditional beauty brands as well such as Pür, NYX, Gerard Cosmetics, Essence, etc.

If you’re interested, I’d suggest you jump on their site ASAP because items are selling out quickly!

Happy Friday!

BH Cosmetics has just released a new eyeshadow palette for spring, and, surprisingly, I kinda want it.

Despite the snow and frigid weather, brands are definitely gearing up for spring. BH Cosmetics is no exception. Their new Opalescent eyeshadow palette is full of light, almost pastel colors that really put me in the mood for the warmer days and bright blooms of the upcoming season.

fullsizeoutput_2f29

Looking objectively at this palette, it is mostly neutral. However, the purples, pinks and oranges add enough color to make this feel like it would be a welcome addition to my makeup collection. I usually don’t even like palettes this big, but just looking at this one makes me feel inspired, and isn’t that the point of makeup?

Since this palette is sold only on the BH website at this time, I will probably end up doing a small haul from their site next month (since I’ve already reached my February low-buy limit) so I can try out a few different things from the brand.

Have you guys tried anything from BH Cosmetics that you think I should try? Are you seeing any spring makeup that’s on your wishlist this year? Let’s chat!

Morning Makeup Musings #73

OleHenriksen is joining the makeup arena?!

OleHenriksen is adding another item to its popular Banana Bright line, but this time is not exactly skincare. It’s a primer.

First released yesterday on the Sephora app as an early-access exclusive, this primer is the sister product to the Banana Bright eye cream (which was in my Best of 2018 countdown and a Face Friday because I love it so much). Its ingredients include Vitamin C to reduce signs of aging over time, Vitamin E to nourish the skin, and banana powder-inspired pigments to instantly brighten the appearance of your skin.

The primer is said to be for all skin types and can be worn under makeup, alone, and used as a highlighter. It’s also supposed to smooth out the skin. The fact that you can use it as a highlighter makes it clear that it’ll give a dewy finish.

I’m not sure if I will buy this primer, but I certainly want to give it a try. I will wait to see if it comes to stores next month so I can sample it. If not, I may bite the bullet since I love the Banana Bright Crème so much. I’ve been super into dewy skin lately, and this really seems to fit my current preferences. Plus it seems like a skincare/makeup hybrid which I love even more.

What are your thoughts? Have you tried the eye Crème? Would you trust a skincare-only brand with a makeup product? Let’s chat!

Morning Makeup Musings #72

ColourPop is really churning out the new products these days. They’ve announced another one to be released this week, perfect for spring.

ColourPop is really the brand that just won’t stop. @trendmood1 has just given a sneak peek of their newest product- a plumping lip gloss.

Judging by the photo, even though it’s black and white, the gloss will come in at least seven shades. There is no word on price yet, but The brand is always affordable so I’m guessing it’ll be around the $10-15 mark. This new gloss line will be available on ColourPop’s website on February 22nd at 10am PST.

Personally, I know I can pass on this one. While the Buxom glosses are my favorite, I can do without the plumping effect of even those. So, I definitely won’t be buying a gloss just for the plumping (since CP already has glosses available).

I do think it’s a smart release for the spring though? What do you guys think? Would you give them a try for some juicy springtime lips? Let’s chat!

New eyeshadow palette from Beauty Bakerie

Beauty Bakerie is releasing a new eyeshadow palette exclusively on RileyRose.com. What’s the theme? Banana pudding.

Beauty Bakerie is definitely a brand that I want to try this year. I love the story behind the brand. The creator and owner is a WOC who started the company after she survived breast cancer. I also love that all of their products follow a dessert theme.

Unfortunately, this palette is not going to be the item that I grab from them. While I love banana pudding (when done correctly), I dont think it makes for a very interesting eyeshadow palette. In fact, if the more orangey color has been swapped for a cooler-toned brown, this could’ve made for a face palette that I would’ve grabbed.

What do you guys think about this palette? Have you tried anything else from Beauty Bakerie?

*note- If you are interested in checking out the brand, a lot of their products are now sold at Ulta.

Liquid eyeliners from ColourPop

ColourPop has released a new line of liquid eyeliners!

Coming in 7 colors to correspond with the new mascaras, these felt-tip pens are supposed to be ultra-precise and transfer-resistant. They are available now on ColourPop’s website for $8 each, two for $15, or as a duo with the matching mascara for $15.

I am definitely going to be trying these out the next time I place a ColourPop order. I love eyeliners, and am always looking for a good one. These days, I’m finding myself really into navy or other dark, non-black liners on my top lash line. So, I’d love to try the blue one.

Are you guys going to try any of these liners? Are you into the graphic liner trend? Let’s chat in the comments below.

ColourPop | Haul Follow-up Reviews

Full face of ColourPop products reviewed.

Hello, hello!

I am finally back with the update to my ColourPop haul! I have finally given all of the products enough of a test to know my full thoughts… (Make sure to check out swatches down below after the reviews).

No Filter concealer in Dark 42

fullsizeoutput_2e0e

This is a decent concealer. If you want a hydrating formula, this isn’t it. It is pretty matte, but I still felt like I always needed to set it with a light powder. I don’t think there is anything really wrong with it unless you have dry undereyes, but I would not repurchase it. I found myself just wanting to use it to get it out of my collection,

No Filter Foundation Stix in Dark 175W

fullsizeoutput_2e09

Here’s the bad news: I really, really, REALLY hate this as a foundation. I tried it several ways– different application techniques, primers, etc. In every instance it felt heavy and greasy all over my face. The good news? It works GREAT as a cream bronzer. The color ended up being a shade too dark, and the undertone too red for me so it worked in this way (🙏🏽). I wouldn’t recommend it as a foundation, but if you want an affordable cream bronzer, this is it. I may actually repurchase it for that use specifically. Surprise surprise.

Best in Brow Kit in Dark Brown |includes Precision Brow Pencil, Brow Boss Pencil, Precision Brow Colour & Brow Boss Gel(not pictured)

fullsizeoutput_2e0c

This kit was mentioned in my Best of Beauty 2018 countdown, so it’s no surprise that I love it (unless you’re new here- welcome!!). The products all work really well, and the price is really good. Moving forward, since the cream Colour is going to way outlast the other products, I will probably only re-purchase the Precision pencil because it is less fuss when I travel or to just throw in my bag.

Crème Gel liner in DTLA

fullsizeoutput_2e0d

At first, I loved this liner. It was creamy. The payoff was great. It stayed all day. And best of all, no sharpener required. The downside to this product (like many other ColourPop products) is that is dried out super quickly. Once that happened, it would tug and pull on the lid (and subsequently break) and the payoff wasn’t that great on top of shadow. I thought I had found my new favorite navy liner (aka favorite period), but alas…. the search continues…

Jelly Much Shadow in Sweet Dreams

fullsizeoutput_2e0a

This is another item that dried out super quickly (and yes, the lid was screwed on tightly). I only used it a few times before it got too dry and clumpy. Before that, it was a gorgeous cream, glitter option that mimicked the look of the Stila glitter shadows, and was easier to apply (less fallout) than my Marc Jacobs cream. Ah well…. I think they would be a good option for festival season since they are affordable and perform well when fresh. However, only buy them if you don’t plan on using them months later once they are open.

Crème Lux Lipstick in Cinnamon

fullsizeoutput_2e16

This lipstick really surprised me. Initially, I really did not like it. It felt dry and was rough to apply. After one or two uses, the formula seemed to get creamier. It started to glide onto the lips like a satin-finish lipstick, but would then dry down to an almost budge-proof matte. It did not quite have the staying power of a liquid lipstick, but it was insanely more comfortable, and wore down more evenly. Two thumbs up.

Well, there you have it folks. Of almost a full face of ColourPop, it was basically a 50/50 split on products I liked versus the disappointments. What are your favorite ColourPop products? Let’s chat in the comments below.

The newest product from Dominique Cosmetics.

Dominque Cosmetics has just released the newest item in their offerings– liquid lipsticks.

As of now, the offer four shades for $18 each. However, you can get the bundle of all four shades for $60, saving you $3 per shade.

First of all, I love the colors. I could definitely see myself wearing the nude shades, but I want to start wearing red lipstick more too. To be honest, I’m strongly considering getting the entire bundle. 😬

What do you guys think? Are you over matte lipsticks or would you give these a try? Let’s chat!

Did ABH accidentally release the new UD Naked palette early? 😩

Back when Urban Decay announced that it was discontinuing the original Naked Palette with the grandeur of a funeral, lots of people speculated that it would soon be releasing a new palette in its place. They were right, but were they expecting this?

fullsizeoutput_2f06

Here’s the thing…the new Naked Reloaded looks a lot like the Sultry palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills. It is a neutral palette with a pop of coral. First of all, coral was a random shade for Sultry. Now to see it here in this context is just….

fullsizeoutput_2f08

The fact that it’s an ABH dupe aside, another thing I noticed about this palette is what its missing. All of the other Naked palettes have dual-ended brushes included. This one does not. What it does have, though, it bigger pan sizes on some of the shades expected to be most popular.

fullsizeoutput_2f09

I think I am going to go ahead and skip this release. I thought about getting it because I like the colors (obviously since I already have the Sultry palette), but…I already have the Sultry palette. Idk. If this were another brand, like Bad Habit, would I support such a close (*cough* exact *cough*) copy of a palette. 😬

What do you guys think? Will you grab it over (or in addition to) the Sultry palette? Do the (nominally) larger pan sizes make up for the lack of  brush? Let’s chat in the comments below!

Gorgeous new collection from Marc Jacobs. *swoons*

Good morning!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Marc Jacobs Beauty has release a gorgeous new collection- Steel(etto).

fullsizeoutput_2f04

Personally, I am most interested in the Eye-Conic eyeshadow palette. I love the Eye-conic formula, and I am living for these shades. This is a beautiful cool-toned option that isn’t the typical blue-gray theme that is more common. I am definitely picking this palette up. At $49, it is a bit pricey for seven shadows, but I can really see myself using this a ton.

In case you are interested, the other items in this new collection are The Crease Eyeshadow Crease Brush for $36 (tbh I get all my brushes in subscription boxes these days), and the Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon.

I will admit, I am curious about the Fineliner. It is a 2mm-wide, waterproof, gel eyeliner. That’s insanely thin, but claims to be unbreakable. So, as someone who has had more than her fair share of liners break mid-eyelid, this feels like a challenge to try it. The only thing that gives me pause is the price. These are $24 each, which is high for something you’ll likely use up in a few weeks with regular use. I’m torn.

What do you guys think? Is $24 for a gel eyeliner outrageous? Let’s chat in the comments below.

Top 10 Lipsticks Perfect for Valentine’s Day

Top ten lipsticks
(WOC friendly) for Valentine’s Day 💋

I can’t believe Valentine’s Day is this week!

If you are in need of some lip options for that V-day date, I have some great options for you, both drugstore and higher end (all cruelty-free, of course).

fullsizeoutput_2e95.jpeg

Let’s start with the traditional bullet lipsticks (because a little lipstick on the wine glass isn’t always a bad thing 💋). Also, bullet lippies are comfortable and easier to reapply (no one wants dry lips on a date 🙅🏽‍♀️).

fullsizeoutput_2ea2

Top to Bottom:

💋ColourPop | Lippie Stix in Fab Five

💋Smashbox | Be Legendary Lipstick in Legendary

💋e.l.f. | Matte Lip Color in Praline

💋Smashbox | Be Legendary Lipstick in Pretty Social

💋Smashbox | Be Legendary Lipstick in Latte (Matte)

For a pout that will definitely last, here are some matte liquid lipstick options. I chose these for both color and formula- these are some of the best in terms of comfort and longevity.

fullsizeoutput_2ea5

💋Laritzy Cosmetics | Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Nudes (my favorite true nude liquid lip)

💋Ofra | Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Verona

💋Physicians Formula | The Healthy Lip Velvet Finish in Nut-ritious

💋Dose of Colors | Matte Liquid Lipstick in Mood

💋Black Radiance | Perfect Tone Matte Lip Créme in Bronze Sugar (5411)

Whether you are in a relationship or single, I hope Valentines Day finds your heart full of love…both for yourself and the world at large.

And on that note, thank you to everyone for your well wishes (and patience) the last few days. It was really touching. 💜💜💜

Tinted oils? The next breed of skincare-makeup hybrids.

Skincare + foundation. Is this the next generation of tinted moisturizers?

The Kosas Tinted Face Oil Foundation is described as both a foundation and skin elixir.

Available now at Sephora, the Tinted Face Oil comes in ten shades but is supposed to be able to span 30 skin tones.

Let’s just get this out of the way: I’m not impressed by the shade range. For a product that is supposed to cover several tones, the first four to five shades don’t vary much in shade, only tone.

That aside, I am interested in the concept of this product. Ulta Beauty releases a similar product recently– Youthful Glow Foundation Serum Drops (26 shades 🙃). I love the idea of a lightweight serum that hydrates and provides nutrients to the skin while providing light to medium coverage and a luminous finish.

These days I’m really over having skin that looks even mildly dry. I love the dewy look that the It Cosmetics CC cream would give me, but the coverage was too full for what I currently want in my everyday makeup. I would love to find that perfect balance. (I haven’t found a tinted moisturizer that I liked so far either.)

All of that being said, would I try this foundation oil? No. Looking at the shades, the closet color to my complexion is too cool-toned. I would, however, consider the Ulta Beauty version.

What do you guys think? Would you try either one of the foundation oils/serums? Let’s chat!

Three kinds of matte bullet lipsticks?

Good morning!

“Who said there is only one kind of Matte?”

That’s what Italian indie makeup brand, Nabla, is asking us all. On February 7th, they will be releasing three brand new matte bullet lipstick formulas. Here’s are the descriptions of each:

Provided I find shades that I like and would wear, I am definitely planning on grabbing one of each of these formulas. Not only do they sound super interesting (especially the Bounce Matte), but I’d like to compare them to each other.

Will they really be that different? What do you guys think about this release? Let’s chat!

Anastasia Beverly Hills is jumping on the mini palette trend this spring

Anastasia Beverly Hills is the newest brand to announce mini eyeshadow palettes.

For their Spring launch, ABH will be releasing two “palettes” and four liquid lipsticks. Although these are really just curated single shadow quads, I am here for them.

For $32 each, I don’t think these are a bad deal. $8 per shadow including the packaging (which you can use with other single shadows) isn’t terrible. If I got either, I think I’d do the cool-toned option with the blue and green shadows, but I’m not sure because that coral-gold duochrome is also catching my attention.

What do you guys think? Is $32 for a quad outrageous? Would you rather just get an entire ABH palette for a $10 more? Let’s chat!

I was honestly considering grabbing one or both, but being new to the brand, I would rather try their single shadows that everyone raves about. Often brands tend to switch up the formula for limited edition or mini palettes and such. So, I think I’d rather try the product Makeup Geek is known for.

What do you guys think? Have you tried Makeup Geek? Would you recommend their palettes or just the singles?
