Juvia’s Place The Warrior | Swatch Stories #2

Bonus story this week since I was out of commission last week.

As a true makeup junkie, it is very easy to neglect makeup that I already own in favor of what’s new. This year, to get more use from my existing collection, I have decided to start a new series: Swatch Stories. Using one palette per month, I will do weekly posts of a different color combination.

This month’s palette is The Warrior by Juvia’s Place. I chose this palette because it is easy to underestimate the versatility of a neutral palette.

Tinted oils? The next breed of skincare-makeup hybrids.

Skincare + foundation. Is this the next generation of tinted moisturizers?

The Kosas Tinted Face Oil Foundation is described as both a foundation and skin elixir.

Available now at Sephora, the Tinted Face Oil comes in ten shades but is supposed to be able to span 30 skin tones.

Let’s just get this out of the way: I’m not impressed by the shade range. For a product that is supposed to cover several tones, the first four to five shades don’t vary much in shade, only tone.

That aside, I am interested in the concept of this product. Ulta Beauty releases a similar product recently– Youthful Glow Foundation Serum Drops (26 shades 🙃). I love the idea of a lightweight serum that hydrates and provides nutrients to the skin while providing light to medium coverage and a luminous finish.

These days I’m really over having skin that looks even mildly dry. I love the dewy look that the It Cosmetics CC cream would give me, but the coverage was too full for what I currently want in my everyday makeup. I would love to find that perfect balance. (I haven’t found a tinted moisturizer that I liked so far either.)

All of that being said, would I try this foundation oil? No. Looking at the shades, the closet color to my complexion is too cool-toned. I would, however, consider the Ulta Beauty version.

What do you guys think? Would you try either one of the foundation oils/serums? Let’s chat!

Three kinds of matte bullet lipsticks?

Good morning!

“Who said there is only one kind of Matte?”

That’s what Italian indie makeup brand, Nabla, is asking us all. On February 7th, they will be releasing three brand new matte bullet lipstick formulas. Here’s are the descriptions of each:

Provided I find shades that I like and would wear, I am definitely planning on grabbing one of each of these formulas. Not only do they sound super interesting (especially the Bounce Matte), but I’d like to compare them to each other.

Will they really be that different? What do you guys think about this release? Let’s chat!

Anastasia Beverly Hills is jumping on the mini palette trend this spring

Anastasia Beverly Hills is the newest brand to announce mini eyeshadow palettes.

For their Spring launch, ABH will be releasing two “palettes” and four liquid lipsticks. Although these are really just curated single shadow quads, I am here for them.

For $32 each, I don’t think these are a bad deal. $8 per shadow including the packaging (which you can use with other single shadows) isn’t terrible. If I got either, I think I’d do the cool-toned option with the blue and green shadows, but I’m not sure because that coral-gold duochrome is also catching my attention.

What do you guys think? Is $32 for a quad outrageous? Would you rather just get an entire ABH palette for a $10 more? Let’s chat!

New palettes from Makeup Geek perfect for V-day 💖

Makeup Geek is releasing two limited edition eyeshadow palettes today, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

I like the mini palette trend that’s happening right now. I think these two have really cute color stories, especially with V-day right around the corner.

I was honestly considering grabbing one or both, but being new to the brand, I would rather try their single shadows that everyone raves about. Often brands tend to switch up the formula for limited edition or mini palettes and such. So, I think I’d rather try the product Makeup Geek is known for.

What do you guys think? Have you tried Makeup Geek? Would you recommend their palettes or just the singles?

Let’s chat!
