Juvia’s Place The Warrior | Swatch Stories #1

A new palette each month. New look inspo every week.

As a true makeup junkie, it is very easy to neglect makeup that I already own in favor of what’s new. This year, to get more use from my existing collection, I have decided to start a new series: Swatch Stories. Using one palette per month, I will do weekly posts of a different color combination.

This month’s palette is The Warrior by Juvia’s Place. I chose this palette because it is easy to underestimate the versatility of a neutral palette.

Morning Makeup Musings #62

The new Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting Color from Stila… the name alone had me intrigued.

Stila has just released a new complexion product in Ulta, and for once I’m not quite sure how to describe it for myself.

From Ulta:

Slip into something more comfortable with Stila’s opulently-whipped, yet refreshingly lightweight, delicately tinted Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting Color. Advanced pigments and light refracting particles smooth, blur and even skin tone creating the optimal illusion – skin that looks naturally fresh and perfected. Creates a translucent veil, allowing each shade to cover a multitude of skin tones. Skin-loving formula with botanicals and over 70% water for a comfortable feel, all day.

Based on the description, I’m wondering how similar it is to the Tatcha Pearl. It seems like it could possibly be Stila’s foundation version of that. Either way, I’m intrigued enough that I would definitely try it out for myself. Even though each of the 8 shades are supposed to cover a wide range of skin tones, I’m going to have to go into an Ulta to find the best match for me.

What do you guys think about this release? Is this just a $38 whipped BB cream? Let’s chat!

Best of Beauty 2018: CoverFx Perfect Pressed Powder

As the final makeup product in my Best of Beauty 2018 product, this one really stands out to me. It was my most used product of all of them, this entire year. It’s one I think every makeup wearer should keep in their purse.

One essential product that I think every Makeup wearer needs is a good pressed powder to blot oil or touch up throughout the day. The CoverFx Perfect Pressed Powder is my all-time favorite for this.

This powder, though pressed, is ultra fine and has a soft, silky texture that perfectly smooths and mattifies the skin. Even more than the Hourglass Veil, I can always count on it to never be cakey or chalky. Using the included velour puff (or even a small face brush) the powder just goes on evenly and melts into the skin, which is perfect for mid-afternoon touchups on the go.

As the final makeup product in my Best of Beauty 2018 product, this one really stands out to me. It was my most used product of all of them, this entire year.

What was you most used makeup product of 2018?

Best of Beauty 2018: NYX Total Control Drops

2018 was the year of great beauty discoveries for me. So instead of just doing the top 18 of 2018, I’m using the entire month of December to give you the deets on all of my favorite cruelty-free beauty products that I picked up this year. From makeup to personal care, I’ve got you! One product for each day ✨

Welcome (or welcome back) to my Best of Beauty MONTH-LONG countdown! Every day of this month, I will be doing reviews on 31 of my favorite beauty products that I tried in 2018.

I want to finish up my Four Days of Foundation with a truly underrated product. The NYX Total Control Drops were my go to liquid foundation for most of this year. I have heard people cite them as a dupe for the Cover Fx drop, but I think they seriously outperform them. It’s not even a competition for me.

These drops are perfect for oily or combo skin. They have a gorgeous matte, but still skin-like, finish with coverage that can easily be adjusted by the amount of drops you apply. They are so easy to use that I have two shades, one for the majority of my face, and then a darker shade that I use as a liquid bronzer/contour. I also use the darker shade to darken some of my lighter foundations so I can get more use from them year round.

If you ever were curious about the Cover Fx drops, I highly suggest you try these first. They are a quarter of the price, and work better in my opinion. Unlike the CoverFx drops they are versatile and can be mixed with other products or just used alone. They last all day without breaking up, and there is little to no transfer.  I highly recommend the Total Control Drops. I’ll definitely keep these on hand even if just to mix in with other products to adjust the shade.

Best of Beauty 2018: Ulta Beauty Matte Eyeshadow Primer

2018 was the year of great beauty discoveries for me. So instead of just doing the top 18 of 2018, I’m using the entire month of December to give you the deets on all of my favorite cruelty-free beauty products that I picked up this year. From makeup to personal care, I’ve got you! One product for each day

Hi guys!

Welcome (or welcome back) to my Best of Beauty MONTH-LONG countdown! Every day of this month, I will be doing reviews on 31 of my favorite beauty products that I tried in 2018.

For the past two days I have been talking about primers. To round out the category, I wanted to share my favorite eyeshadow primer– The Ulta Beauty Matte Eye Primer.

Of all of my eyeshadow primers, Urban Decay, Too Faced, etc, this is the best of the best for me. Recently, my eyelids have become really oily. I used to be able to set them with concealer or one of my other eye primers, and be okay all day. Not anymore. Now, this is the only primer that keeps all of my shadows (powder, liquid, gel) in place all day (12+ hours).

Although I disagree with the “Nude” name, I do like the color of this formula. It basically matches the packaging exactly. On light skin tones it will blend out to be flesh-toned, but on me it is very clearly several shades lighter than me. While this requires me to spend an extra second blending out the edges with shadow matching my skin tone, I do like this quality because it makes any shadow color I put over it pop a little more.

For $12 USD, I think this primer is definitely the best you can get within its drugstore price range, but, honestly, I think it’s the best you can get period. ✨

What are your favorite primers? Let’s chat!
