Morning Makeup Musings #62

The new Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting Color from Stila… the name alone had me intrigued.

Stila has just released a new complexion product in Ulta, and for once I’m not quite sure how to describe it for myself.

From Ulta:

Slip into something more comfortable with Stila’s opulently-whipped, yet refreshingly lightweight, delicately tinted Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting Color. Advanced pigments and light refracting particles smooth, blur and even skin tone creating the optimal illusion – skin that looks naturally fresh and perfected. Creates a translucent veil, allowing each shade to cover a multitude of skin tones. Skin-loving formula with botanicals and over 70% water for a comfortable feel, all day.

Based on the description, I’m wondering how similar it is to the Tatcha Pearl. It seems like it could possibly be Stila’s foundation version of that. Either way, I’m intrigued enough that I would definitely try it out for myself. Even though each of the 8 shades are supposed to cover a wide range of skin tones, I’m going to have to go into an Ulta to find the best match for me.

What do you guys think about this release? Is this just a $38 whipped BB cream? Let’s chat!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance| Swatch Stories #5

A different palette every month. A new color combo every week. This is the final story for the ABH Modern Renaissance palette

As a true makeup junkie, it is very easy to neglect makeup that I already own in favor of what’s new. This year, to make sure I use what I have and discover new ways to use old favorites, I have decided to start a new series: Swatch Stories. Using one palette per month, I will do weekly posts of a different color combination. This idea is inspired by the color combinations posted on Instagram by @temptalia.

Here is the final Swatch Story for the Modern Renaissance palette:

(L-R): Tempera, Burnt Orange, Realgar, Red Ochre

What was your favorite color combination from the Modern Renaissance palette? What are some palettes that you’d like to see Swatch Stories for?

Morning Makeup Musings #61

New products coming from Marc Jacobs Beauty this spring and I CANNOT wait!

This morning, I saw on the Trend Mood Instagram page that Marc Jacobs Beauty is planning on launch two brand new products in Sephora this spring.

The first one is a stick concealer. At the moment, I cannot think of any other brand, drugstore or high-end that has a concealer in stock form. It’s such a smart idea that I can’t believe it hasn’t been done. That alone has me wanting to try it.

The Marc Jacobs Beauty concealer will be for sale starting on March 18th for Sephora VIB members, and the 21st for everyone else. It will be available in 17 shades and will retail for $32 each (😫).

The other product the brand will be releasing is their Instant Blurring Beauty Powder. That won’t be available until April 23rd for VIB members and May 3rd for everyone else. This Pressed Powder is supposed to blur the skin while adding glow, but also reducing shine from excess oil.

The cool part about the powder, besides formula is the packaging. Each of the four shades will come with a magnetic brush that slides into the top of the powder for convenience. Despite the high price of $49 each, I am definitely going to be grabbing this product also.

What do you guys think about these upcoming releases? Can you believe stick concealer hasn’t been done? Let’s chat in the comments below!

Morning Makeup Musings #60

Wet n Wild just released some new multifunctional color sticks and I’m kinda excited.

Wet n Wild has released their new Color Icon Multi-Stick which is a multi-use color for the eyes, lips and cheek.

It comes in 13 shades, in matte and metallic finishes, and is only $2.99 over on the Wet n Wild website. According to the brand, these are cream to powder and are infused with natural oils and Vitamin E.

I would love to try these. I don’t know how big they are, from the picture they look like a lip or eyeliner, but because they are meant to be used as shadows, blush and lipstick, I’m thinking they maybe a bit bigger, like the size of the Nudestix eye pencils.

Would you guys give these a try? What are your favorite affordable multifunctional products?

e.l.f. Cosmetics | Haul + 1st Impressions

Happy Monday!

A few weeks ago, about ten brands announced the release of new concealers. E.L.F was one of those brands. I wanted to try a few from every price range, plus E.L.F. had a few new items I wanted to try, so I decided to just place an order.

Here are the items I picked up with a few of my first impressions. Full reviews coming once I have a chance to thoroughly test the products.

The New Classics Eyeshadow palette, $14

I first opened this last Wednesday, and after trying it once, decided to take it with me for a weekend getaway because it was so impressive. It may be a little early to call it, but this feels like a new favorite…and not just for drugstore, overall.

16HR Camo Concealer, $5

Concealer takes some time to really judge, but so far I certainly don’t hate it. It’s not full coverage, but it blends out very easily.

elf+ Coco Glow Highlighter, $6

I was taken aback the first time I wore this. If you want an ultralight beam kind of highlight ☝🏾. There is a tiny bit of glitter in this, but it’s not very noticeable on the cheek. The reflection on the other hand… this gives you an almost glossy look.

elf+ Blotting Powder, $6

I have only used this once so far, but it seemed to work really well with a small brush.

Beauty Shield SPF 50 Skin Shielding Primer, $12

Aside from providing SPF coverage, I don’t know if this does anything. I will say that there is a white-cast. I will have to keep testing, but if it doesn’t extend or improve my makeup’s wear, it definitely won’t be replacing my Coola Drops.

Now onto skincare….

Makeup Remover Balm Stick, $8

This has been working pretty well. Because it is in a twist up balm, it was really easy to take and use on my weekend getaway.

Eye Makeup Remover Balm, $4

This is honestly just a smaller version of the makeup remover balm. Both are safe for the eyes, lips and face. The smaller size of this tube does seem to make it a bit easier to get product on the eye area though.

elf+ Dewy Coconut Refreshing Mist, $8

I’m not sure how I feel about this one way or the other tbh. I need more use before I can give any kind of opinion.

Clarifying Booster Drops, $10 &

Acne Fighting Spot Gel with Aloe, $2

I have only used these two together so far. I had a few breakouts trying to make an appearance, and one that was already pretty sizable. I put both of these on– the clarifying drops all over the face, and the spot gel on the blemishes. All of the blemishes were noticeably smaller the next day. I repeated the process the next night (Thursday night) and, with no further application, on Sunday I saw that my face was completely clear.

Beauty Shield Vitamin C Pollution Prevention Serum, $16

Serums definitely take some time to tell if they’re working or not.

Hydrating Water Essence, $10

Aside from the eyeshadow palette, this is my favorite thing to use so far. It smells really nice and feels pretty luxurious for a drugstore skincare product.

Well, that’s everything I got in my e.l.f. order. As I mentioned, once I have given all of these products a fair run, I’ll do a full review with all of the pros and cons of each.

Until then, what new e.l.f. products are you love these days? Any other drugstore products you’re curious about? Let’s chat in the comments below!

Morning Makeup Musings #59

ColourPop has got something fun for the eyes.

ColourPop has released colored mascaras!

The new ColourPop mascaras are $8 each, and are available in seven shades:

  • Red
  • Blue
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Purple
  • Pink
  • Black

In terms of the formula, they are not waterproof. So they’ll be easy to remove…which I think is ideal because you don’t want to be struggling to remove green mascara.

These colourful mascaras were just released on Thursday, and the red has already sold out! So, if you wanted that color, you have to buy the PR set which is available for $56.

I may try one of these the next time I place a ColourPop order. However, I can’t see that happening for a while…Who knows though? They way CP releases products, they may launch something I really want by next Friday. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Are you guys interested in the ColourPop mascara? Would you get black or a colorful shade?

1st Haul of 2019| Juvia’s Place

Haul & swatches.

As I mentioned in my Brand I Want to Try in 2019 post earlier this week, I am determined to diversify my makeup collection in 2019. I’m tired of missing out on great products just because I’ve never tried the brand before or because it isn’t the latest thing trending on IG.

Juvia’s Place has been on the top of my list for over a year now. I remember when the brand first launched, a few people were raving about the quality of the pigments and the extra large pan sizes. At first, I was hesitant because people were having shipping issues with the small indie brand, but once they starting selling through Ulta, I really no longer had an excuse. So, as my first makeup purchase of the new year, I decided I would be trying this brand.

Thankfully, Juvia’s Place has a massive 50% off sale to celebrate 2019, so it was the perfect time to grab all of the palettes that I had really been eyeing. Check out which ones I grabbed below, along with swatches. Once I have had a chance to really try them out, I will follow-up with full reviews. (Also, stay tuned because you may see one of these palettes in an upcoming month of Swatch Stories.)
