Project Pan: Using up my non-cruelty-free products #4

I finished some and added others. 2019 is going to be a fun challenge.

Last fall I started a rolling project pan to use up all of the non-cruelty-free makeup in my collection. Before we get into my current status, let’s do a quick recap from last year.

The three items that I started with at the end of September were the Nars Radiant Creamy concealer, Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder and Benefit Cosmetics Ka-Brow. Mid-way through October, in my first project update, I decided to up the ante and add four more products before even finishing the three I started with. Those four were the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer, Pat McGrath Precision Liquid Eyeliner, Make Up For Ever Multi-use Powder Foundation (which I use as a bronzer), and the Dior Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup Sunscreen.

Surprisingly, less than a month later, in the first week of November I was able to do a second update to announce that I had completely finished the Dior Foundation. Since I was feeling confident about my progress, I added TWO more foundations AND a primer (which was basically completely full)- the Dr. Brandt Luminizing Primer, Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ Foundation and the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation. I thought that I would finish five of the eight products (except the Coty Airspun, Dr. Brandt primer and MUFA foundation) before Thanksgiving….. yea. No. I didn’t finish any of them. 😬

Here’s where we are now…

  1. I kicked the Br. Brandt Luminizing Primer out of the project. I wasn’t using it, and really couldn’t see myself finishing a completely full tube of it. So, I passed it on to a friend.

Cruelty-free alternative:  Becca Backlight Priming Filter

2. I finished three products! Yay. The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer were completely used up. The Benefit Cosmetics Ka-Brow dried out to the point that I really struggled getting the product out.

Cruelty-free alternatives:

Nars Radiant Creamy – Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer – I’m still working on getting a drugstore favorite, but the ColourPop No Filter Concealer is a decent similarly-priced concealer.

Benefit Cosmetics Ka-Brow- ColourPop Precision Brow Colour is my favorite cream brow product even though its a much lower price point than Benefit.

Products currently in my project pan:

Rolling over from last year, I am still working on the Coty Airspun, MUFA foundations (2 liquid and one powder) and the Pat McGrath liner.

New products I am adding:

Sephora Collection Bright Future Color Correctors in Green & Orange

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Primer & Givenchy Mister Mat Matifying Primer

Sephora Collection Contour Palette

Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

As I have mentioned previously, once I found out that Huda Beauty is still selling mink lashes, I could no longer support the brand. Want to know what high-end brands are cruelty-free? You can find my list here.

I am going to learn from my gravely inaccurate 2018 predictions, and not over promise anything on these. My goal for 2019 is to at least finish all of the liquids, and reach pan on all of the powders (at least one color in the two palettes).

Are you guys doing any project pans this year? If so, comment below. Feel free to link your project pan post if you have one!
