Morning Makeup Musings #67

Gorgeous new collection from Marc Jacobs. *swoons*

Good morning!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Marc Jacobs Beauty has release a gorgeous new collection- Steel(etto).

Personally, I am most interested in the Eye-Conic eyeshadow palette. I love the Eye-conic formula, and I am living for these shades. This is a beautiful cool-toned option that isn’t the typical blue-gray theme that is more common. I am definitely picking this palette up. At $49, it is a bit pricey for seven shadows, but I can really see myself using this a ton.

In case you are interested, the other items in this new collection are The Crease Eyeshadow Crease Brush for $36 (tbh I get all my brushes in subscription boxes these days), and the Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon.

I will admit, I am curious about the Fineliner. It is a 2mm-wide, waterproof, gel eyeliner. That’s insanely thin, but claims to be unbreakable. So, as someone who has had more than her fair share of liners break mid-eyelid, this feels like a challenge to try it. The only thing that gives me pause is the price. These are $24 each, which is high for something you’ll likely use up in a few weeks with regular use. I’m torn.

What do you guys think? Is $24 for a gel eyeliner outrageous? Let’s chat in the comments below.

New products coming from Marc Jacobs Beauty this spring and I CANNOT wait!

This morning, I saw on the Trend Mood Instagram page that Marc Jacobs Beauty is planning on launch two brand new products in Sephora this spring.

The first one is a stick concealer. At the moment, I cannot think of any other brand, drugstore or high-end that has a concealer in stock form. It’s such a smart idea that I can’t believe it hasn’t been done. That alone has me wanting to try it.

The Marc Jacobs Beauty concealer will be for sale starting on March 18th for Sephora VIB members, and the 21st for everyone else. It will be available in 17 shades and will retail for $32 each (😫).

The other product the brand will be releasing is their Instant Blurring Beauty Powder. That won’t be available until April 23rd for VIB members and May 3rd for everyone else. This Pressed Powder is supposed to blur the skin while adding glow, but also reducing shine from excess oil.

The cool part about the powder, besides formula is the packaging. Each of the four shades will come with a magnetic brush that slides into the top of the powder for convenience. Despite the high price of $49 each, I am definitely going to be grabbing this product also.

What do you guys think about these upcoming releases? Can you believe stick concealer hasn’t been done? Let’s chat in the comments below!

A luxury multi-use makeup set?

I love a good multi-use cream product. I recently rediscovered my Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek stick and have been loving it. If you love creams and you’re in the market for a luxury lip + cheek set, Lilah B. has recently released their Say It Out Loud Divine Duo Lip & Cheek Trio.

This is a limited edition set that the brand is offering for $89, but they say it is a value of $138. Each of these creams comes with 0.08oz, and can be used on the eyes, lips and face. Considering that these multipurpose Divine Duos are regularly $46 each, that’s a great deal. You’re getting one free plus some.

Personally, I am going to pass on this set. I think they are great for summer and people who enjoy bright colors often. Had this set included some of their regular colors, I definitely think I would’ve been swayed. Their regular line of colors are more neutral and include shades like mauve and beige (looks like a rosy brown tone) because they are less bright and something I could see myself wearing often.

This is a brand that I am hoping to try in 2019. I am transitioning into more cream and they have tons of cream products. Additionally, a lot of their products are considered “Clean” by Sephora. So I am hoping that they release a similar set in the future with different shades.

What do you guys think? Have you tried any luxury multi-use products? Would a set like this be of interest to you?

Best of Beauty 2018: Marc Jacobs See-Quins Glam Glitter Eyeshadow

2018 was the year of great beauty discoveries for me. So instead of just doing the top 18 of 2018, I’m using the entire month of December to give you the deets on all of my favorite cruelty-free beauty products that I picked up this year. From makeup to personal care, I’ve got you! One product for each day ✨

Welcome (or welcome back) to my Best of Beauty MONTH-LONG countdown! Every day of this month, I will be doing reviews on 31 of my favorite beauty products that I tried in 2018.

As I’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, I love products that are made for quick, on the go application, but that look like you took a lot of time doing them. The Marc Jacobs See-Quins Glam Glitter Eyeshadow is that product.

I reviewed it recently in a holiday haul update. So I’ll keep it short. Aside from the fallout during application (just do you eye makeup first), these shadows cannot be more easy to use. Using your finger, just dip into the pot and pat onto the lid. I’ve found that they work best with no primer at all.

Because these have chunky glitter blended throughout the formula, one swipe across the lid will give you a multidimensional look that doesn’t require any other products. I’ve used these several times for events that I needed to get to quickly. I’ve even worn the more neutral Topaz Flash to work.

What products have you guys been loving for super fast eye looks? Let’s chat!

💜Michelle Lisette

Don’t forget to come back everyday at 10AM EST for the entire month of December to catch the rest of my Best of Beauty 2018 product reviews.

Best of Beauty 2018: Kevyn Aucoin The Contour Book Volume 2

2018 was the year of great beauty discoveries for me. So instead of just doing the top 18 of 2018, I’m using the entire month of December to give you the deets on all of my favorite cruelty-free beauty products that I picked up this year. From makeup to personal care, I’ve got you! One product for each day ✨

Welcome (or welcome back) to my Best of Beauty MONTH-LONG countdown! Every day this month, I will be doing reviews on 31 of my favorite beauty products that I tried in 2018.

I grabbed this palette on a whim early this year. Kevyn Aucoin’s book (one of multiple) Making Faces was the standard for how to use makeup to transform the face. So, when I saw this on my way out of Sephora one day, I decided to grab it.

First, let’s talk about the packaging. It is beautiful. When you open the front cover, the first two “pages” include a guide on how to use the products to sculpt and accentuate your face and eyes. The next “pages” contain a mirror and the products: a sculpting cream, sculpting powder, highlighting cream, powder highlighter and four eyeshadows.

To be honest, I’ve never actually used the eyeshadows. The face products, on the other hand, are truly game-changing. The colors are perfect for creating the most natural looking contour and highlight.

The cool-toned sculpting products cast a shadow without making the face look muddy or bronzed. The highlight is not the least bit glittery, and somehow makes your skin look like it is just glowing, even the powder.

Even after I finish up the products in this face palette, I will definitely go out to buy the individual pans. They are seriously that good.

What is your favorite face palette? Have you found the perfect sculpting or highlighting products? Let’s chat!

Best of Beauty 2018: Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer

2018 was the year of great beauty discoveries for me. So instead of just doing the top 18 of 2018, I’m using the entire month of December to give you the deets on all of my favorite cruelty-free beauty products that I picked up this year. From makeup to personal care, I’ve got you! One product for each day

Hi guys!

Welcome back to my month-long Best of Beauty countdown. Keeping within the category of primers, I could not do a Best of Countdown without mentioning this one. This primer drew soooooooo much attention when it was released, as much for its price as for its performance 😩. I was one of the people who fell into the hype of it all, but I am so happy that I did. The Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer is worth every penny and here’s why…

First, let me address the price. $52 is an outrageous price for a primer. Yes. However, if you consider that this primer is made of silk extracts, silk powder, and pink and gold pearl (plus a ton of skin-saving botanicals), you start to be able to appreciate the higher cost.

If you further consider that this balm can be used on the eyes, lips and face to protect against both environmental aggressors and any makeup products from sinking into the skin, The Silk canvas starts feeling more like skincare for your entire face…. and we all know that skincare can get pricey very quickly.

All that being said, I really do think The Silk Canvas Primer lived up to its claims. I saw way less breakouts as a result of makeup being unable to get down into my pores. My makeup went on more smoothly. Even on no makeup days, I would put it on just to add a protective barrier and soft filter to my skin.

I bought this product back during the spring VIB Sale, and after consistent use, am just getting ready to finish it up. I definitely can see myself repurchasing it, as it is just as much a skincare benefit, as it is a makeup product. Also, as I mentioned in my The Water Cream review, I feel good knowing that every Tatcha purchase supports girls’ education worldwide. ✨

Do you guys have any makeup products that also provide skincare benefits? Let’s chat!

Best of Beauty 2018: Hourglass Veil Translucent Powder

2018 was the year of great beauty discoveries for me. So instead of just doing the top 18 of 2018, I’m using the entire month of December to give you the deets on all of my favorite cruelty-free beauty products that I picked up this year. From makeup to personal care, I’ve got you! One product for each day

Hello beautiful people!

Welcome (or welcome back) to my Best of Beauty MONTH-LONG countdown! Every day of this month, I will be doing reviews on 31 of my favorite beauty products that I tried in 2018.

If you have been subscribed to the blog for a little while, you may be super confused as to why this product is on my Best of list. Back in August, in my Don’t Fall into the Trap post, I mentioned this product as one of my all time purchase regrets. However, after months of use (because I mean I have it so why not), this product has become one of my HG products– meaning I will buy it again when it runs out despite the steep price and initial regret. Yep, the Hourglass Veil Translucent Powder is just that good.

Now, I will still admit that my reasons for purchasing this were completely flawed, but now that I’ve had it and used it, I can actually see what all the hype is about. This powder is amazing.

Why do I love it?

If you are looking for a powder that takes away the oily shine while setting your makeup and adding a filtered, softly slowing powder, this one is it. No matter how much I cake it on, it never looks cakey or dry. It actually does set my makeup in place and really adds a healthy glow to the skin without being overbearing (I would not go as far as using it for a highlighter though).

Would I use this in the summer? Probably not in my T-zone. But, ever since the weather got cooler and my skin got drier, I also have been having trouble forcing myself to use other powders. While some of my other powders have been making my skin look and feel dry and textured (especially under my eyes and on my forehead between my brows), this one is doing the exact opposite. And for that reason, it is no longer a purchase regret, but an all-time fave.

Do you guys have any products that you completely changed your mind about? I’d love to know in the comments below.

Let’s chat!
