e.l.f. The New Classics || Swatch Stories #2

Color story #2

As a true makeup junkie, it is very easy to neglect makeup that I already own in favor of what’s new. This year, to get more use from my existing collection, I have decided to start a new series: Swatch Stories. Using one palette per month, I will do weekly posts of a different color combination.

I chose the e.l.f. The New Classics palette because since getting it in my e.l.f. haul, it has truly become a new favorite of mine. To me it is like the perfect blend of the ABH Soft Glam and Sultry palettes. It has everything you need for day and night, and performs well.

A new palette each month. New look inspo every week.

For the first swatch story, I went with four colors that can take you from day to night within themselves. Below the swatches is one of the soft everyday looks that I did with these colors.

For this look I blended Darling into the crease and along the lower lash line, fluffed Glamour all over the lid, softly blended Black Cherry on the outer third of the lid, blended the two lid colors using an ultra-light hand with Muse. Then to finish I smudged Muse along the top lash line and outer portion of the bottom lashes. (Not the most flattering shot, I know. I forgot to take the picture until the tail end of my day 😩)

Have you guys tried the newer e.l.f. palettes?

Top 10 Lipsticks Perfect for Valentine’s Day

Top ten lipsticks
(WOC friendly) for Valentine’s Day 💋

I can’t believe Valentine’s Day is this week!

If you are in need of some lip options for that V-day date, I have some great options for you, both drugstore and higher end (all cruelty-free, of course).

fullsizeoutput_2e95.jpeg

Let’s start with the traditional bullet lipsticks (because a little lipstick on the wine glass isn’t always a bad thing 💋). Also, bullet lippies are comfortable and easier to reapply (no one wants dry lips on a date 🙅🏽‍♀️).

Top to Bottom:

💋ColourPop | Lippie Stix in Fab Five

💋Smashbox | Be Legendary Lipstick in Legendary

💋e.l.f. | Matte Lip Color in Praline

💋Smashbox | Be Legendary Lipstick in Pretty Social

💋Smashbox | Be Legendary Lipstick in Latte (Matte)

For a pout that will definitely last, here are some matte liquid lipstick options. I chose these for both color and formula- these are some of the best in terms of comfort and longevity.

💋Laritzy Cosmetics | Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Nudes (my favorite true nude liquid lip)

💋Ofra | Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Verona

💋Physicians Formula | The Healthy Lip Velvet Finish in Nut-ritious

💋Dose of Colors | Matte Liquid Lipstick in Mood

💋Black Radiance | Perfect Tone Matte Lip Créme in Bronze Sugar (5411)

Whether you are in a relationship or single, I hope Valentines Day finds your heart full of love…both for yourself and the world at large.

And on that note, thank you to everyone for your well wishes (and patience) the last few days. It was really touching. 💜💜💜

Morning Makeup Musings #52

Casey Homes has a new set in collaboration with Physician’s Formula.

Casey Holmes, one of my favorite YouTubers, has just released her newest collaboration with Physicians’ Formula. This box set contains 6 Butter products:

  • Butter Bronzer
  • Butter Blush
  • Butter Highlighter
  • 4 Butter Eyeshadows
  • Butter lipstick
  • Butter purfume

As much as I love Casey’s channel, I will not be buying this product. I am not a fan of the PF Butter formula scent, so I would not want an entire collection (including a perfume) that has it. Scent aside, I would not use half of the collection. The bronzer is too light for my skin tone, and the shades of the eyeshadows don’t speak to me. I’m also am not a fan of the Butter Blushes. I have one in my collection that I received as a part of a prize package, and I never use it because it’s too glittery.

One thing that I am curious about in this set is the new Butter lipstick formula. I did see that those are currently available on Ulta’s website (this set isn’t available there yet, only at physiciansformula.com). I have tried other PF lip products in the past and I think that those are something that they do extremely well with. So, the next time I make an Ulta purchase, I will grab one of those.

What do you guys think? Is this a collab you’re definitely going to support and purchase? Let’s chat in the comments below.

Morning Makeup Musings #50

The jelly trend is going strong, and Wet’n Wild is jumping on board with some amazing new shadows.

It looks like the jelly trend is continuing strong in 2019, and Wet’n Wild has released a new collection of eyeshadows that I’m here for.

These jelly shadows are available now at Ulta and Wet’n Wild for $4.99 each.

I absolutely love this trend. I love the wet, dewy look and I love the brighter colors that Wet’n Wild is offering. The good thing about purchasing trendy products or bright colors from drugstore brands is that you don’t have to feel bad about spending tons of money on a product that you won’t use often.

I am definitely going to be trying this product. The blue shadow is gorgeous, and would be fun addition to my collection. I also plan to grab one of the more neutral shades because I like a glossy lid for a quick work also.

What do you guys think? Are you willing to jump on the jelly trend?

Morning Makeup Musings #41

Today I’m chatting about a new drugstore concealer.

Good morning!

Milani Cosmetics is releasing a new concealer on January 8th. It will be $8.99 and will come in 18 shades!

I am super excited about this release. I am still trying to find the perfect drugstore concealer to replace the Maybelline Age Rewind that I am panning (and will be done any day now). So, this is definitely going to be one of my January purchases.

What do you guys think? Is the concealer market oversaturated or are you up for trying a new one?

Best of Beauty 2018: ColourPop Single Pressed Eyeshadows

While I am obsessed with eyeshadow palettes, sometimes it’s nice to just create your own. ColourPop Cosmetics has my all-time favorite single shadow formula for doing just that. That’s why they make my Best of Beauty 2018 list.

I love a good eyeshadow palette. It’s nice to have the colors already laid out in a way that makes it easy to visualize which shadows work together to create cohesive looks.

This year, I discovered the magic of single eyeshadows. Singles allow you to build any palette that you want–whether you take inspiration from a palette that already exists or you just put together colors that you love. You could even buy them for the sole purpose of serving as companions to the palettes you own.

One of my favorite, most trusted brands to buy single pressed eyeshadows from is ColourPop Cosmetics. They have a very large, ever changing collection of the most pigmented, creamy and easy to work with shadows. Plus, ColourPop is super affordable, and you can catch deals several times per year to save even more money.

My current ColourPop single pressed shadow collection.

I actually purchased all of these shadows at the same time. I was inspired by the green in the ABH subculture palette, and built around that with unique shades that I didn’t already have in my palette collection. Then I decided to add a few staple colors that would make it easy to travel with just this and still be able to create tons of looks.

If you have every wished you had a particular shade in your eyeshadow collection, I strongly recommend checking out ColourPop’s single pressed eyeshadows. They work just as well as, if not better than, even some of my high end eyeshadows. Plus, with all of the color options, it’s almost certain that you’ll find one you like.

What is your favorite brand for single eyeshadows? Or do you only use palettes?

Let’s chat!
