Best of Beauty 2018: Cover Girl Vitalist Elixir Foundation

2018 was the year of great beauty discoveries for me. So instead of just doing the top 18 of 2018, I’m using the entire month of December to give you the deets on all of my favorite cruelty-free beauty products that I picked up this year. From makeup to personal care, I’ve got you! One product for each day

Welcome (or welcome back) to my Best of Beauty MONTH-LONG countdown! Every day of this month, I will be doing reviews on 31 of my favorite beauty products that I tried in 2018.

I was so excited when Cover Girl announced this fall that the brand was Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free. As such, I immediately ran out to try some of their products. This was one of the two complexion products that I decided to grab.

When I grabbed this foundation, I really took a risk. The few reviews I had seen on YouTube labeled this foundation as being amazing for normal and dry skin, but maybe not so much much for oily skin. But, in reading the claims, it sounded similar to the Charlotte Tillbury Magic Foundation that I had recently purchased. Did I smell a dupe? I had to know.

After trying this foundation for over a month, I can confidently say that this foundation works on oily skin (at least in the winter). I have been wearing this foundation non-stop, and even took it with me as my foundation for my husband’s holiday party out of town. It even lasted through a night of dancing.

Why do I love it?

This foundation is oil-free and super lightweight. It glides on the skin effortlessly, and blends in giving a soft luminous glow. No exaggeration- when I wear this foundation I can go without highlighter. My skin looks dewy and healthy without looking greasy (note- I always set the center of my face, but that’s true with EVERY foundation I wear). I will say that after several hours, I do blot my T-zone, but I don’t think that’s an unreasonable effort. Additionally, just one pump goes a long way, and is usually all I need for a nice medium, everyday kind of coverage.

Guys, not only have I found a dupe, but I found a full on replacement for my Magic foundation. Shoutout to Cover Girl, for not only making the commitment to cruelty-free, but for making products that outperform their luxury competitors. ✨

Have you guys ever tried a drugstore product that did better than a more expensive version? Let’s chat!
