Best of Beauty 2018: Smashbox Photo Finish Serene Greens Primer Water

2018 was the year of great beauty discoveries for me. So instead of just doing the top 18 of 2018, I’m using the entire month of December to give you the deets on all of my favorite cruelty-free beauty products that I picked up this year. From makeup to personal care, I’ve got you! One product for each day

Hi guys!

Welcome back to my Best of Beauty 2018 countdown. I hope you enjoyed the Six Days of Skincare. Now we are moving back to Makeup, starting with primers. Up first is a priming spray that multitasks- the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water (in Serene Greens).

Before I received this product as a part of a giveaway prize from Andrea Matilliano (a cruelty-free YouTuber), I had never tried the Photo Finish Primer Water despite people raving about it for years. To be honest, even when I got it, I thought it would be just like my other makeup setting sprays. I am happy to say that I was wrong.

I will admit, I don’t use it as my only primer. I use it to wet my beauty sponge before applying liquid products, and then the set my makeup afterwards. This primer water is very light, and not sticky like some makeup setting sprays (or primer sprays). After using this spray for several weeks straight, other sprays that I had been using suddenly felt heavy and sticky in comparison. They also didn’t feel like they made my makeup last as well.

The fresh Serene Greens scent is a refreshing and calming. It isn’t too heavy of a fragrance, and didn’t irritate my face or eyes. It is a nice way to start the day. I haven’t used any other Smashbox Primer Water varieties, but if I can find this one again I would buy it.

What have been your favorite priming or setting sprays of 2018? Let’s chat!
