Holiday Review: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter Mini Macaron Set

An update on one of my Holiday haul items. This is a good one, and there are swatches!

Hi guys!

I picked up this product in my Holiday Haul a few weeks ago and am finally ready to give you the deets.

Here’s the product in the original packaging:

The packaging is super cute. It comes with four mini highlighters (2.4 grams of product each) in the shades Opal, Prismatic Amethyst, Vanilla Quartz and Rose Quartz. All four are existing and permanent shades in the Shimmering Skin Perfector line. With each highlighter individually wrapped in a colorful tag, the set looks like a package of macaroons. Super cute presentation, especially for gifting!

In terms of the quality, these are really great highlighters if you like a creamy glow on the cheek with no glitter. That is exactly what I look for in highlighters so I am thrilled. They do wear all day. I’ve worn them to the office and back for 12+ hour work days. They were still there…maybe a bit faded, but there was definitely some noticeable highlight.

Don’t let the picture deceive you. Opal and Vanilla Quartz really do have a difference in tone on the skin.

It took so long for me to decide my thoughts on this because originally I would put it on as the last step of my powder products, then press my makeup sponge (dampened with Smashbox Primer Water) over my entire face to set everything, as I usually do. The highlighter would effectively disappear. I did not realize it was gone, though, because my entire face was glowing from the wetness of the Primer Water. So, when I looked a few hours later I thought it had just disappeared. 🙈 Once I realized the issue, I stopped doing that, and it wore beautifully.

These are the same swatches from above, just blended out so you can see how they melt into the skin to give it a really pretty, healthy glow. You can definitely build them up for the drama.

So, is it worth the $40 at Sephora?

Absolutely!!! First of all, the price of the Shimmering Skin Perfector Minis is $19 EACH regularly…for the same size. You are getting FOUR for $40, making them $10, and you are getting very popular shades. I think every skin tone will find AT LEAST one that they can wear within this set. I also think that all of the colors are pretty wearable for everyday. Even the Prismatic Amethyst could be pulled off as a blush topper without being super obviously purple… and on very deep skin omg… 😱😍. If you wouldn’t personally wear them all, you can gift the others individually if you’d like. For me, I really enjoy all of them and am super happy to have them in my collection now.

So, what do you think? Will you be picking this up for yourself or as a gift for someone else? Let’s chat!
